JOY Festival

A two-day creative gathering hosted at The Art House, bringing artists, designers and the public together through hands-on workshops, talks and making. Curated, programmed and produced for two years running.

Project Summary

JOY is a two-day creative gathering hosted at The Art House. The festival is built on the idea that third spaces, where communities come together, to make things, talk and be present without a screen or a transaction in the way, are disappearing, and that businesses with space and resources have a role in protecting them.

I've curated, programmed and produced JOY for two years running, bringing together artists, designers, curators and members of the public for two days of hands-on workshops, talks and making. Across both years, the roster has included Harriet Richardson, Harold Offeh, Olivia Sterling, John Costi, Joy Yamusangie, Tara Lily, Anthony Burrill, Hannah Lim, Helmut Smits, Wilfrid Wood, Holly Hendry, Charlie Boyden and Auntie Flo.

Free and open to the local community, JOY has welcomed over 1,000 attendees across two years, for workshops, performances and artist talks.
